PokerStars returns to Switzerland this July after a 2-year break

World’s most popular and compliant online poker room, PokerStars is set for a return to the Swiss market after it had ended operations July 1, 2019.

After a 2-year break, Stars’ international network and tournaments will be available to players in Switzerland this July at PokerStars.ch and Casino777.ch. This is made possible after the online operator just signed a new partnership with Casino Davos. A partnership with a land-based casino in Switzerland was one of the requirements to achieve a gaming license in the country.

Swiss players over the age of 18 will initially be able to play on PokerStars via a desktop client and Android mobile app. The app for Apple mobile devices is expected a little after.

Robert Kocher, head of online gaming at Casino Davos said:

“The preparatory work for this launch has been going on for months. All provisions of Swiss legislation must be complied with, for example with regard to player protection and money laundering prevention.”

He added:

“To this end, we have worked closely with the supervisory authority, the Federal Gaming Board, carrying out operational tests to ensure compliance.”

The launch of the infamous operator of the most successful online tournament series, WCOOP ad SCOOP, is expected in the next month. The  exact launch date is yet to be announced.
