Sportradar adds Badminton Europe to integrity client portfolio

Sportradar Integrity Services has signed an agreement with Badminton Europe, the continental governing body for the sport, leveraging its Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS) to monitor fixtures.

Using the ‘advanced and proven’ UFDS – launched in February of this year – Sportradar will provide bet monitoring and reporting for badminton championships across the BEC Championships, BEC International Challenge, BEC International Series and BEC Future Series.

Sportradar Integrity Services global team of integrity specialists will conduct analysis of all fixtures for abnormalities, and any suspicious matches will be reported to Badminton Europe.

The firm has detected over 6,000 suspicious matches over its 15 year experience of bet monitoring and integrity services provision, with more than 600 of these taking place in 2020 alone.

Andreas Krannich, Managing Director at Sportradar Integrity Services, remarked: “We are thrilled to sign this agreement with Badminton Europe to help support the integrity of European Badminton competitions.

“At Sportradar we have witnessed growing evidence of global match-fixing in recent years across a range of sports, and it is vital, now more than ever, that strong integrity measures are put in position.

“Sportradar Integrity Services have a proven track record in this field, and the UFDS services provided through this agreement will offer significant assistance to Badminton Europe as they look to identify and mitigate all forms of betting related integrity risk.”

Badminton Europe joins a range of sports authorities in Sportradar’s extensive portfolio of integrity clients, including the Austrian Football Federation (ÖFB), the Netherlands Olympic Committee*Dutch Sports Federation (NOC*NSF), and the Swedish Football Association (SvFF).

“This agreement demonstrates Badminton Europe’s commitment to tackling the threat of match-fixing,” said Brian Agerbak, General Secretary at Badminton Europe.

“By bringing the expertise of Sportradar Integrity Services on board to monitor our competitions through their UFDS platform, we now have valuable insight into the betting markets offered and activity occurring on our tournaments at a global level, and our tournaments are boosted by having these protections.”
