Kraken to acquire European license in 2021 and looks for a Head of Operations in Dublin

Major cryptocurrency exchange Kraken is eyeing a European license by the end of 2021. It is thereby following in the footsteps of rivals Coinbase by officially expanding into the European peninsula

In an interview with German news agency Handelsblatt, published on Tuesday, Kraken co-founder and Chief Executive Officer, Jesse Power, confirmed his firms plans. He said that the exchange is targeting several local jurisdictions for a potential regulatory approval already this year. They reportedly include countries like Malta, Luxembourg, and Ireland to be most favourable to license the crypto exchange.

It might just be Dublin, Ireland that the exchange will ultimately pick. A glance on the company’s career page, shows an open position for Head of Operations Ireland, based in Dublin

Kraken has been previously providing some services for users in European countries after it launched Kraken’s mobile App in January 2021.

Kraken is currently one of the larger exchanges in the world with almost $2 billion in trading volume over the last 24 hours. It operates in nearly 190 jurisdictions around the world.
