Producer of hit ‘Entourage’ is working on a crypto series

Producer of HBO series “Entourage” and “Ballers,” Rob Weiss will start putting his hands on a new 10-episode series centred on the modern cryptocurrency culture. “Hold On for Dear Life” as the series is called, is an acronym for HODL, the popular Bitcoin maximalist term.

As reported in Variety, the series places a young woman in the foreground as it follows Mel, a young tech founder, who launched a token in honour of her best friend that went missing. Mel than has to navigate the crypto scene in the company of her close friends, one of whom of course is mad for Lamborghinis and another a crypto anarchist. Speaking of stereotypes… Nonetheless, they usually work for comedies.

The series has some serious crossover appeal as it has minted its own ERC20 token on the Ethereum blockchain. This means that token holders can receive a share of profits the series brings in. Token sales are also used to finance the production, which still needs to have its pilot to be shot.

The 10-episode series is written by the pseudonymous “Suhh Toshee” and the executive production is in hands of Mark Pennell, Satoshi Nakamoto Productions, and the MAP Group.

About the potential hit, Weiss said:

“When I read the ‘Hold On for Dear Life’ pilot, I felt as if I had been transported into a fresh and unique universe where characters spoke about money in a whole new language. The world of currency is rapidly changing, and ‘Hold On for Dear Life’ will both illuminate and entertain at the same time.”
