2021 World Series Mandates Proof Of COVID-19 Vaccination
All participants of this year’s edition of the world’s largest and best-known poker tournament festival, World Series of Poker, will need to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. This according to an announcement made on Friday.
The policy will apply to all persons attending the event and includes press, spectators, and vendors. A person is considered fully vaccinated only once they have received their final vaccine dose 14 days prior to the day that they will enter the venue.

The WSOP will be using the CLEAR mobile app and its Health Pass feature to assure all persons inside the tournament’s premises have been vaccinated. For those not making use of the app, there will be a desk on-site to verify physical vaccination cards.
The world’s largest poker tournament festival is scheduled to return this fall and will use the CLEAR mobile app and its Health Pass feature to verify that anyone inside the building has been vaccinated. There will also be an on-site center to verify alternative documentation like physical vaccination cards that were received at the time of the shot.
Ty Stewart, WSOP Executive Director, said:
“This is not a decision we have taken lightly-it is made with no agenda beyond protecting player eligibility and the operations of a unique televised gaming event. The nature of poker is to be in close proximity with your opponents for extended periods of time and a seat at the World Series of Poker is a commitment for both our company and the participants. We want players to be excited for their return to the WSOP, while offering the greatest level of protection and limiting complications during the tournament this fall.”
The WSOP’s press release also states that all attendees must wear masks in “accordance with current CDC guidelines and state mandates.”
However, Nevada state governor, Steve Sisolak, recently said that at large events where vaccinations are mandatory, masks would no longer be a requirement.
The 2021 WSOP is scheduled to run from September 30 through November 23 and will have 88 bracelets for grabs. As in previous year, it will once again take place at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino.
