Christie’s Latest NFT Auction List Rare Zombie Cryptopunk
A rare zombie CryptoPunk non-fungible token (NFT) will have biddings starting this Friday with Christie’s auction house.
The online auction, No Time Like Present, runs from September 17 through September 28 and will feature several in-demand NFTs. It is expected that ‘piece de resistance, a red-eyed and bearded zombie with a black cap, Larva Labs’ CryptoPunk #9997, will bring in millions as interested parties will battle it out.
The pieces up for sale come from the private collection of Shawn Yue, who says he had only dabbled into NFTs this year.
“This idea came across my mind as I am celebrating my 40th birthday this year. It is time to mark another new chapter of my life. A lot of my friends have started collecting NFTs for a few years, and I have learned quite a lot about this new category from them.”
The auction will also offer Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) #8746, a -furred ape with a halo and laser eyes. Larva Labs’ Meebit #6337, a skull-headed figurine showing some resemblance with Lego, is also available.
After interest seemed to have diminished amidst the crypto cool-off period in the summer months, NFTs appear to be the hottest thing out there once again. In the previous week, rival auctioneer Sotheby’s was able to bring in $24.4 million for a bunch of 101 Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs.
Christie’s nonetheless holds the world record for an NFT sale. Beeple’s “Everydays – The First 5000 Days” sold this March for an unbelievable $69 million.
