Satoshi Nakamoto Statue Unveiled in Budapest
Satoshi Nakamoto, Bitcoin’s mythical creator is now immortalized as he is depicted in a life-size bronze statue in Hungary’s capital city, Budapest.
With the statue on display in Graphisoft Park in Budapest, the co-founder of the statue project and editor of crypto news site Kripto Akademia, András Győrfi, spoke to a crowd of journalists and crypto enthusiasts at the unveiling ceremony on Thursday. He said:
“Whoever he or she was, Bitcoin creates value, and especially the technology behind Bitcoin, blockchain, creates value.”
Debreczeni Barnabás, CEO of Hungarian crypto exchange Shinrai, also had some words
“Satoshi Nakamoto has created an independent money free of any middlemen that empowered people with financial sovereignty […] We have erected this statue to remind ourselves courage is virtue. We need to keep on dreaming big.”

The statue is created by artists and was first announced in May. Wearing a hoodie over his head, the design is intentional with the face made from a reflective surface so that viewers can see themselves mirrored back when they look at the statue, emphasizing the idea that “we are all Satoshi.”
Graphisoft Park in Budapest’s 3rd district, where the statue is placed is already home to Apple founder Steve Jobs who is depicted in a statue by means of his signature look of jeans, a turtleneck, and sneakers.
