37% of Texans Would Vote for Crypto Payments

A new poll published in Newsweek shows that almost 11 million Texans could be in support of legislation that will make crypto legal in upcoming elections.

Reported on Monday, the Newsweek poll that questioned more than 9,700 eligible voters across ten U.S. states indicates that 37% of Texas residents are in favour of making crypto legal and would vote so.  42% said they would support crypto-friendly legislation as the one that has passed in Wyoming.

The survey was conducted by United Kingdom-based firm Redfield & Wilton Strategies between Augustus 20 and 24 and came prior to two House Bills taking effect in Texas. This crypto legislation, Bills 1576 and 4474, leads to the creation of a blockchain working group and recognizes cryptocurrencies under the state’s commercial law.

When considering Texas to have a population of around 29 million people, the survey results point to as many as 10 million in favour of crypto.

On top of the positive sentiments on cryptocurrency, Texas’s sources of renewable energy and its loosely regulated power grid, have made the state somewhat of a hotspot for crypto miners too.
