William Hill seeks new International MD as Patrick Jonker exits transformed business

William Hill has confirmed that Patrick Jonker has departed the company, choosing to no longer serve as International Managing Director of the heritage betting group.

Jonker departs on mutual terms as William Hill’s UK and European units are due to be merged with 888 Holdings – completing the £2.2 billion divestment agreed by Caesars Entertainment and 888 last month.

Group COO Stephen Parry will assume the responsibilities of Jonker’s role as International MD on a short-term basis.

The former MD Betsson Group, Jonker joined William Hill in 2019 as an executive hire of Group Chief Executive Ulrik Bengtsson charged with spearheading the firm’s recovery following successive year multi-million-pound losses.

Jonker was a key stakeholder in the former FTSE firm’s acquisition and integration of Mr Green for £250 million undertaken during 2019 – a transformative deal that saw William Hill establish its International Division across regulated European markets.

Issuing a statement, Jonker detailed “I feel comfortable stepping aside for new management to prepare for the next chapter for William Hill International”.

“I would like to thank Patrick for his leadership of the William Hill International team over the last two and a half years, and wish him the best of luck in his next challenge.” – Ulrik Bengtsson commented on the executive’s departure.
