Poland’s Largest Crypto Exchange Rebrands to Zonda

Poland’s largest cryptocurrency exchange, BitBay has rebranded to Zonda and also hired a new Chief Executive Officer to kickstart its European expansion.

Zonda, holding a crypto license to operate across the EU, has over a million users and is on track to secure a license in Switzerland. Next up will be the U.K. and Canada according to the new CEO Przemysław Kral.

Kral, who was already with BitBay as Chief Legal Officer, said:

“We are very well-known in central and eastern Europe as we have a crypto/fiat license in Estonia and we are also the first exchange to have an audited financial statement there. Now we want to be fully regulated and have licenses everywhere.”

Considering the large number of regulatory requirements with regards to global anti-money laundering (AML) efforts, a lot of crypto exchanges are still trying to get approved. Zonda’s move into Switzerland, nevertheless, is more than just a license application. Zonda’s new CEO said:

“We have a company structure in Switzerland and we are hiring there. We also have a partnership with FINMA-licensed SEBA Bank. We expect to have our Swiss license in the first quarter of 2022.”
