Florida’s Ron DeSantis Backs Miami Mayor And Bitcoin

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is reportedly moving forward to support Bitcoin adoption in his state. With proposed projects, the governor is sending a clear signal and backs Miami Mayor Francis Suarez with the needed state-level support.

According to a Bloomberg publication, DeSantis said:

“Our view as the state government is this is something that we welcome and we want to make sure that the state government is crypto-friendly.”

In an attempt to attract further Bitcoin investment to Florida, DeSantis is proposing that Florida businesses have the possibility to pay state fees in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

DeSantis proposed a program to enable businesses in Florida to pay state fees in bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, among other cryptocurrency-related proposals included in the state’s budget for next year.

In 2021, Florida has already experienced a large influx of new entrepreneurs and businesses in the crypto space, supporting the state’s Bitcoin narrative largely fuelled by the Miami Mayor who, at a city level, pushed for Bitcoin-related innovation and has established himself as an outspoken advocate for clear and friendly regulation for the crypto space.

Suarez is pushing for Miami to integrate Bitcoin into its operations. Mayor Suarez has been lobbying lawmakers to make it possible for government employees to be paid in Bitcoin. He has also been pushing to allow taxes to be paid in the number once crypto assets and even for the city to invest in Bitcoin.

With DeSantis’ state-level support, Miami’s odds at passing the needed pro Bitcoin legislation increases with all proposals out there, readily submitted.
