Paddy Power Pays Out On Max Verstappen AND Lewis Hamilton Championship Wins
Following Red Bull’s Max Verstappen dramatic win in the final race of the Formula 1 Racing Season in Abu Dhabi, leading sports bookie Paddy Power decided that ‘everyone is a winner’ and did not only pay out Max Verstappen race and championship bets, but also settled Lewis Hamilton backed single bets as a win.
In what can be considered a promotional stunt, the UK based bookmaker, part of Flutter Entertainment made the announcement on its blog, where it stated:
“We at Paddy Power hate sporting injustices – so we’ve done our bit after a controversial end to the F1 season in Abu Dhabi.”
Whether there was injustice, remains arbitrary, with punters and racing fans largely opined that Max had the better racing season, with more wins heading into the final Grand Prix and having shown some sensational racing skills.
Nevertheless, the season ender was a nail-biter and had to come down to the final lap as the bookmaker noted:
“But things got really spicy when the stewards decided to let cars the Dutchman had already lapped out of the way, leaving him to breeze past the seven-time champion who hadn’t been able to dive into the pits for a freshen up, and take the championship on the final lap of the season.”

Albeit a large payout on both backed bets for Paddy Power, with sister company PokerStars, also part of the Flutter group, having recently secured a deal with Max Verstappen’s Red Bull Racing for the next couple of seasons, there are only winners on the Flutter camp after this weekend.
