“Buy Bitcoin, Let Go of Jealousy and Fight For Your Freedom”
The third-richest man in Mexico, Ricardo Salinas Pliego, sent out an advisory New Year message to his Twitter audience on Christmas Eve.
The Mexican businessman recommended people to start buying Bitcoin and to slowly start forgetting fiat money in a short video. He told his nearly 1 million followers on Twitter:
“Steer clear of fiat money. Whether it’s the Dollar, the Euro, or the Yen. It’s all the same. It’s fake money made of paper lies. Central banks are producing more than ever.”
After a short pause, he pointed to the camera and said:
“Invest in Bitcoin!”

Furthermore, Salinas told the people to let go of jealousy and to have fait in oneself, especially when your personal freedom and expression are concerned.
Salinas has been a well known Bitcoin evangelist since 2013 and his Twitter profile showing him with the popular ‘laser eyes’ reads “Mexican businessman and Bitcoin holder.” With an estimated net worth of around $15.8 billion according to Forbes, the bank owner recommends that all investors have Bitcoin in their portfolios since it has global liquidity. In June, he had called already fiat money a ‘fraud’:
“Governments don’t like bitcoin … it burns them that people can get out of their fiat trap, because that is what fiat money is, a fraud … The fraud fiat is inherent to the fiat system and we can see it today in the U.S. … the dollar as hard currency is a joke.”
