Two months ago, the wallet got its launch as am official of the People’s Bank of China (PBOC) announced that 140 million people in the country had already opened wallets for the digital yuan. Now the next step to adoption of its wallet has been rolled out. Foreign visitors should be able to use the digital yuan at the Beijing Winter Olympics this February.

While the world still awaits a nation that has rolled out a final version of their central bank digital currency, China was among the first to develop its sovereign digital currency after starting the development work in 2014.

Recently, the central bank of Jamaica announced to launch in the first weeks of 2022 and Japan is also testing its digital currency, while many European and Asian nations are still years behind in terms of development and testing.
