Strike Bitcoin Lightning Payments App Launches in Argentina

Jack Mallers’ Bitcoin’s Lightning Network-powered app Strike has announced launching its services in Argentina.

Argentines will now be able to make bitcoin remittance payments, receive bitcoin tips on Twitter and use Strike’s peer-to-peer transaction services.

Strike’s announcement revealed the company’s ambitions stating that Argentina is only the first step in a 2022 Latin American expansion where it will adopt Brazil, Colombia and “other Latin American markets.” Mallers and his firm were included in early discussions with El Salvador’s president Nayib Bukele, leading to the decision to make Bitcoin legal tender in the country on September 7, 2021.

Strike holds a wide network of merchants, consumers and individuals in Argentina with whom it is working with to expand its services. At the moment, initial integrations and activations for its application are completed in the southern city of San Martin de los Andes, Patagonia.

Gearing up to fulfill its Latin American ambition, the payment services company has heavily invested in its team for the region by quadrupling its boots on the ground with plans to further expand.

Jack Mallers said:

“Argentina is one of the most exciting countries for building the Bitcoin economy, leveraging Bitcoin as both a superior asset and a superior payments network.”
