Serena Williams Joins NFT Fantasy Football Platform Sorare As Board Advisor
Ethereum-based, fantasy football and NFT platform, Sorare announced that 23 times Grand Slam winning tennis player Serena Williams joined the company as a board advisor.
In her new role, Williams will be advising the NFT-platform in its expansion across new sports and diversity initiatives.

In a statement, Sorare CEO, Nicolas Julia said:
“Serena Williams is among the most important figures in sports and culture, who has redefined the modern athlete and entrepreneur, including her unprecedented early stage investing successes.
The strategic counsel that Serena will bring in building one of the most iconic sports entertainment brands is invaluable. I’m thrilled to have her join the team. Together, we’ll forge new ways for fans to engage with their favorite athletes.”
Speaking to Forbes, Williams confirmed that she has also personally invested in Sorare. She said:
“I actually was introduced to Sorare through my husband. (Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian who invested 50 million in an early funding round)
Sorare does more than just collectibles. They deliver meaningful interactions between users and their favorite teams or players, which I thought was different.”
Sorare is preparing for a grand year, 2022 after already seeing 4000% growth in trading volume in 2021. Brian O’Hagan, Sorare’s Growth Lead, recently took to Twitter and made predictions for the new year.
One of the predictions O’Hagan makes for the new year, is the launch of a new sport to base its successful model on.
After the recent opening and expansion of their New York office, this will certainly be a U.S. sports and with the Major League Baseball season kicking off March 31, and Baseball collectibles being a generations-long tradition in the country, we are confident that this is the sport Sorare will add to its line-up in 2022.
