New York Stock Exchange To Offer NFT Trading
The New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) has serious plans of setting up an online marketplace for various digital products including NFTs, cryptocurrencies, digital media and artwork.
In what can be considered as serious competition for existing NFT platforms OpenSea and Rarible, the stock exchange recently filed an application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) to register the name “NYSE” for a variety of crypto products, including NFTs.
Last year April, the NYSE minted its first series of NFTs honoring six hot tech stocks that debuted on the world’s largest bourse, including Spotify, Roblox and Coupang.
Trademark attorney Josh Gerben, shared NYSE’s trademark application with the Twitter community.
The NYSE has filed a trademark application indicating that it plans to offer:
1. A financial exchange for digital currencies and NFTs.
2. A NYSE-branded cryptocurrency.
3. A marketplace to buy, sell and trade NFTs.#NYSE #cryptocurrency #NFTs pic.twitter.com/un78HFgu6I— Josh Gerben (@JoshGerben) February 15, 2022
