Crypto Platform FTX Launches New Blockchain Gaming Unit

Popular crypto trading platform FTX is rolling a new gaming unit, according to a Bloomberg repot on Monday.

The unit, FTX Gaming, aims at stimulating gaming companies to start using cryptocurrencies and will offer a “crypto-as-a-service” platform for the launch of tokens and NFT support.

An FTX spokesperson told Bloomberg that gaming is an “exciting use case for crypto”, adding:

“There are 2 billion plus gamers in the world who have played with and collected digital items, and can now also own them.”

FTX Gaming will operate via FTX.US.

Amy Wu, Head of FTX Ventures and Gaming, commented via Twitter:

“We believe in the future of web3 games. There are 2B+ gamers who have played with and collected digital assets (in-game items) for years, and now can own them.”

She added:

“Yes there are gamers who don’t believe in NFTs in games, but there were also naysayers about free-to-play and mobile gaming. What it will take are examples of exceptionally designed, innovative games to show gamers the future.”

FTX also announced a call for February 24, where it would discuss anything related to their new gaming business.
