Sothebys Abruptly Cancels Auction of 104 CryptoPunks
On Wednesday, auction house Sothebys abruptly withdrew a collection of 104 CryptoPunks that was expected to bring in as much as $30 million in a much-anticipated auction just minutes before start of bidding.
Sotheby said that the seller decided to withdraw the lot but did not disclose the reasons why the NFT series was canceled.
The collection that was supposed be sold as a single lot titled “Punk It!,” was acquired in July 2021 in a single blockchain transaction by anonymous collector “0x650d”.
