Stripe Relaunches Crypto & NFT Support

Global payments firm Stripe has announced the (re)launch of its crypto services, allowing businesses the ability to use Stripe as a payment method for crypto and NFT transactions. The firm ended its crypto services back in 2018.

The services will include checkout services for Web3 firm and know-your-customer (KYC) and fraud prevention tools.

Stripe co-founder, John Collison, shared the news on Thursday to his Twitter followers.

Stripe’s new services are currently only available to businesses in the U.S., the U.K., and the European Union.

Stripe announced that it has secured deals FTX, FTX U.S., Nifty Gateway, Just Mining, and Blockchain.com.

Crypto exchange FTX will use Stripe to build onboarding and identity verification features and additionally FTX will deploy “Stripe Radar,” which aims to lessen fraud risk.

Stripe said the goal is to make the process of opening and funding FTX accounts a more “seamless” experience for customers.

Tristan Yver, FTX.US’ head of strategy, said:

“The optimizations we made in our payments setup with Stripe deliver the smooth on-ramp experience FTX’s growing customer base demands.”
