Flutter CEO UK & Ireland Discusses Safer Gambling

CEO of Flutter UK & Ireland, Conor Grant, discussed his company’s first pillar of its five-pillar Safer gambling strategy that it presented in February of this Year.

Flutter’s Safer Gambling strategy that works alongside its global Play Well strategy, is the “culmination of many months of hard work, bringing together the best from across our existing businesses and challenging areas where we need to go further,” the CEO notes.

When it comes to the first core pillar of Flutter’s new strategy, Discover, Grant details how “proactively advancing the industry’s understanding of gambling harm towards prevention” is key. He points to Flutter’s annual Problem Gambling Severity Index (“PGSI”) survey, which reviewed the risk behaviours of Sky Betting & Gaming customers:

“In 2021 over 2,000 customers self-assessed their gambling behaviour over a 12-month period. This provided us with valuable insights based on customers own reflections of their relationship with gambling. This proved invaluable when designing our Safer Gambling strategy, which focuses on the use of tailored safer gambling measures and tools – rather than a blanket approach – to support a range of customer needs.”

The five pillars of Flutters’ Safer Gambling Strategy include:

  • Discover – Proactively advance the industry’s understanding of gambling harm.
  • Educate – Improve all customers’ and colleagues’ understanding of gambling harm.
  • Empower – Give every customer the tools and understanding to use our products safely.
  • Understand – Identify everyone exhibiting higher-risk behaviours early in their risk journey.
  • Support – Interact with more customers and give the right level of support for each.

A year ago, the Flutter CEO together with Flutter Chairman Ian Proctor, already revealed their plans to take leading role in addressing problem gambling behaviour.
