Axie Infinity ‘Origin’ Upgrade Moved Back By One Week After Ronin Hack
Axie Infinity’s highly anticipated “Origin” upgrade has been postponed with a week. After hackers stole $625 million from the underlying Ronin blockchain, Sky Mavis, the developer of the play-to-earn (p2e) game, moved the launched back to April 7 instead of the initially planned March 30.
Sky Mavis explained on its Substack:
“While the game is ready for soft launch, we’ve decided to give the engineering and security team an additional window of time to deeply investigate all implications of the breach, before asking for their full attention to support Origin’s release.”
In what was one of the largest exploits in the history of decentralized finance, Sky Mavis has nevertheless committed to reimburse affected players.
