Animoca Brands Purchases Two Major Video Game Publishers
Animoca Brands, the parent company of The Sandbox, on Tuesday added Eden Games to its already substantial portfolio, expanding its presence in blockchain gaming. Eden Games is a publisher of popular racing games including the Gear.Club and iconic Test Drive series. With the acquisition, Animoca Brands hopes to enhance its Polygon-based REVV Motorsport ecosystem.
A day later, on Wednesday, the blockchain gaming investment firm announced the acquisition of Darewise Entertainment, a Paris-based game studio founded by former Ubisoft executive, taking a 70% stake in the firm. The games developer is currently working on a new play-to-earn (P2E) massively multiplayer online role-playing game, or MMORPG, called Life Beyond.
Co-founder and chairman of Animoca Brands, Yat Siu, took to Twitter and elaborated on the rationale behind the investment, noting he “expects many collaborations, partnerships and interoperable experiences + highest level of quality.”
