Largest Private Bank in Argentina Offering Crypto Trading Services
Argentina’s largest private bank by market value, Banco Galicia, confirmed on Monday that it added the option to buy and sell cryptocurrencies on its platform.
A new feature, highlighted as being “new”, was added in the investment section of the app for users to acquire Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), USDC and XRP.
Banco Galicia is part of to Grupo Financiero Galicia, which is traded on the Buenos Aires stock exchange and on Nasdaq under the ticker GGAL.
The bank’s new crypto services is made possible in partnership with Liechtenstein-based crypto product for digital wallets and mobile banking apps, Lirium. Banco Galicio confirmed to roll out the service by mid-May.
Although customers can buy and sell cryptocurrencies, they are not able to withdraw or transfer them.
Meanwhile, it is reported that Lirium is working hard behind the scenes with multiple Argentinian, Brazilian and Mexican banks to set up their crypto services.
