Solana Pay Adds New Transaction Request Feature for Merchants
According to a post by Solana developers, Solana Pay will start facilitating transaction requests between merchants and users with a recently launched new feature on the protocol.
A transaction request feature was added for merchants to send customized transaction links to users, for example unique non-fungible tokens (NFTs) or virtual gifts.
Any Solana transaction would allow interactive requests between a checkout app and mobile wallet. It works with the merchant receiving the wallet address in the request and then able to respond with a customized transaction for the customer.
The announcement reads:
“Merchants and brands can create dynamic experiences that send tokens, invitations, and gifts to customers.”

Merchants can also decline transactions requests, for example in situations where extra authentication is required.
Previously Solana Pay would only allow one-way transfers between users. The developers said the new feature is supported by Solana wallets Phantom and Solflare.
Following the announcement, SOL prices rose 9% in the past 24 hours, according to CoinMarketCap data, outperforming the market with Bitcoin and Ethereum gaining 5% on average.
