FTX’s Bankman-Fried Talks About his Political Backings
In an interview on the Pushkin podcast “What’s Your Problem?”, FTX exchange founder Sam Bankman-Fried said that he might be donating a figure “north of $100 million” on future political campaigns, and even up to $1 billion.
Bankman-Fried was one of the single-largest donors backing President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign, which remains a hot topic in the community.
The multi-billionaire crypto entrepreneur told podcast host Jacob Goldstein that he has already donated $200 million of his $20 billion net worth. This his year he donated $23 million to a single Political Action Committee (PAC) this year.
Despite benefiting from $11 million in PAC money, Bankman-Fried’s favorite candidate in an Oregon congressional primary didn’t come up victorious.
Looking ahead to the 2024 presidential campaign, Bankman-Fried said about his spending that “it’s gonna depend on who is running.” He added:
“I’m going to be looking a lot less at political party from that perspective and a lot more about sane governance.”
