Move-To-Earn Gaming App Stepn To Block China Mainland Users
China’s crackdown against crypto-related business have forced mainland users of the NFT gaming app Stepn offline.
Starting July 15, Stepn will implement a blockade for users in the region when app developers will providing GPS and IP location services.
Although enforcing measures to shield its services from mainland users, the team stressed that they have always been compliant and had not engaged in any business with players based in China. Stepn tweeted:
“We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your understanding. STEPN has not engaged in any business in mainland China since its establishment and has not provided download channels. STEPN has always attached great importance to compliance obligations and always strictly abides by the relevant requirements of local regulatory agencies.”
Furthermore, the team explained that that any new details relating to the blockade will be communicated via social media, email, and in-app alerts.
Stepn’s “move-to-earn” model enables users to trade so-called NFT trainers and in-game token, GMT, by either walking or running in real life.
