Spanish Santander Bank to Offer Crypto Trading in Brazil

Spanish banking giant Santander will be rolling out crypto trading services to its Brazil clients this year.

As reported by local news, the bank will start to offer crypto-related services in the Latin American country, with more information to follow during the bank’s next earnings call scheduled for mid-October.

Mario Leao, Santander Brazil CEO, said on Thursday:

“We recognize that it is a market that is here to stay, and it is not necessarily a reaction to competitors positioning themselves, it is simply a vision that our client has demand for this type of asset, so we have to find the most correct and most educational way to do it.”

Following the adoption of Bitcoin in El Salvador last year, a survey revealed that nearly 50% of Brazilians would embrace the adoption of Bitcoin as their official currency.

“Brazilians were the biggest advocates of crypto-recognition in the region,” the survey concluded
