Singapore’s Leading Bank Partners with The Sandbox Metaverse

Singapore’s leading consumer bank, DBS is partnering up with metaverse platform, the Sandbox.

A press release revealed that the Asian banking giant is taking its first steps into the metaverse and has purchased a 3×3 parcel of LAND in The Sandbox. The announcement read:

“The partnership makes DBS the first Singapore company to seal a partnership with The Sandbox and the first bank in Singapore to make a foray into the metaverse. This also marks a new milestone in DBS’ journey to continually explore the potential of Web 3.0 opportunities to benefit its customers and the broader community.”

The partnership will give birth to DBS BetterWorld, advocating a sustainable and eco-friendly future and includes an interactive metaverse experience on its newly acquired virtual piece of land.

Co-founder and chief operating officer of The Sandbox, Sebastian Borget, commented that Singapore will get its own place in the virtual map through the creation of SingaporeVerse, introducing its rich culture to the metaverse. He said:

“We welcome DBS to The Sandbox as the first bank in Singapore to step into the open metaverse and join our efforts to create the SingaporeVerse, a neighborhood on our virtual map that will bring the culture of Singapore to life in the metaverse in a very engaging, equitable, inclusive way that is open to all.
