Brazil Legend Ronaldinho Makes Comeback with GAMING1’s Circus Brand

2005 FIFA World Player of the Year, Ronaldinho, will take part in a unique and grand match between KAA Gent and Standard Liege on September 21st at the Ghelamco Arena in Ghent, Belgium.

One of the most technically gifted players in football history, Ronaldinho will play 20 minutes with each team in a match called the Circus Cup. The Brazilian is also joined by Standard Liege and KAA Gent legends, Gunther Schepens and Jean-Francois Gillet.

The game is an initiative of Belgian gaming brand Circus, a historic sponsor of the Standard de Liège and a partner of KAA Gent since the start of the season.

The Circus Cup is seen as an opportunity to increase the company’s engagement with both football clubs, and Circus aims to go beyond just being a financial investor in its teams. The 20,000-seat stadium will be full and the event is expected to sell out as 15,000 fans have already expressed their interest.

Fans of both clubs can play for free, and the circus promises that the winning team will receive a prize to add to their future tifo. At the end of the game, fans can vote for the prize they want, whether it’s a XXXL flag, a statue of a club legend or a mural inside the stadium.

As part of GAMING1, Circus is a Belgian sports betting brand that has grown rapidly recently, as evidenced by signing one of the biggest names in the sports industry.

Although perhaps a bit out of shape, Ronaldinho said to be excited about his return on the pitch:

“It’s very exciting for me to be teaming up with such a prestigious Belgium company. I’m also looking forward to the Circus Cup match, a great chance to show what I can still do.

“But overall, this cooperation with Circus in Belgium is more than just about football, it’s an ideal collaboration because I see a lot of similarity between the brand’s personality and my own, especially its playfulness.

“I’ve always been about play but pushing this message and tying a meaningful story to it makes a lot of sense, especially regard responsible play. I believe it can have a hugely positive impact on people watching.”
