Animoca Brands Partners with Cool Cats to Grow GameFi
Cool Cats Group LLC, the web3 company behind the legendary blue-chip NFT collection Cool Cats, announced today a strategic investment from Animoca Brands, a firm that advances digital property rights for games and the open metaverse. The collaboration will help Cool Cats achieve its goal of being the leading worldwide NFT brand and a strong media and entertainment firm, especially by expanding its gaming services.
Ken Cron, Executive Chairman of Cool Cats Group, and Yat Siu, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Animoca Brands, have had a long-standing connection, which has culminated in this strategic cooperation.
Cool Cats announced a partnership with GAMEE, one of Animoca Marketers’ subsidiaries that created a virtual casual gaming arena linking gamers, brands, and game producers, on September 1. Cool Cats holders have had access to unique NFT claims, raffles, and community giveaways as part of the GAMEE collaboration.
After recently closing a US$110 million strategic funding round from a new investor consortium, the team at Animoca Brands always pushes hard to deliver true digital ownership of users’ virtual assets and to advance the open metaverse – with a particular focus on GameFi opportunities, including play-and-earn. The merger of Cool Cats and Animoca Brands will allow both firms to provide unique and compelling gaming experiences to their particular communities as well as the larger gaming audience.
Yat Siu commented on his firm’s investment in the Web3 company:

In August, Animoca Brands raised another $100 million to help deliver its metaverse ambitions. Animoca Brands’ total investments are worth over $1.5 billion. The company is one of the early investors in Play-to-earn game hit Axie Infinity and also has a big share in NFT marketplace OpenSea.
