Carsten Koerl wins ‘EY Entrepreneur of The Year’ award for building Swiss giant Sportradar 

Carsten Koerl, the founder and CEO of Sportradar AG, has been named Switzerland’s ‘Entrepreneur of The YearTM’ by EY. 

The accolade forms part of Big-4 auditor and financial consultancy EY’s global programme promoting entrepreneurial achievement in more than 60 participating countries. 

A panel of independent judges rewarded Koerl for his “entrepreneurial spirit and purpose” in achieving Sportradar’s founding mission to “reorganise sports data for the empowerment and betterment of sports”.

Founded in 2001, Sportradar is recognised as the world’s most valuable sportstech group, which maintains a stable of 1,700 clients in over 120 countries, employing 3,500 staff.

EY Judges highlighted Koerl’s hands-on management of Sportradar’s growth”, having led the company through multiple strategic transitions and overseeing the development of its core sportstech products and customer-centric leadership teams.  

Further recognition of Koerl’s achievements were underlined by his ability to attract top investors to Sportradar such as Michael Jordan, Ted Leonsis, Todd Boehly, and Mark Cuban, to help capture new opportunities in sports data.  

Koerl is the 25th Swiss entrepreneur to receive the EY prestigious award that was first established in 1986 as a US state-wide competition.

“I am incredibly honoured to win this prestigious award,” said Koerl, “I celebrate this accomplishment with the entire team. I am proud that we are recognized for the impact that our innovative and visionary technology products have on the sports ecosystem.”
