Peter-Paul de Goeij reappointed to NOGA leadership

The Netherlands Online Gambling Association (NOGA) has reappointed Peter-Paul de Goeij as its Managing Director for a further two years.

De Goeij’s new tenure will commence on 1 January, providing leadership to the Dutch online gambling industry association as the national market continues to mature after 14 months under the KOA Act framework.

The NOGA Board stated that its decision was due to de Goeij playing a key role in the successful transformation of the trade body since he joined its predecessor Speel Verantwoord in May 2019.

Additionally, Eric Konings has also been appointed to a position with the NOGA, having previously served as its Chairman, and contributing a ‘wealth of experience’ to its day-to-day operations.

“I am looking forward to working with Eric and everyone at NOGA and all its stakeholders to build on the successes we have achieved so far and promote safer gambling and fulfil our responsibilities as an industry,” de Goeji remarked. “I would like to thank the board and members for their continued trust and support.”

Konings remarked: “I welcome the continued cooperation with NOGA. Thanks to the hard work of Peter-Paul and the board, NOGA is well positioned to represent the interests of its members. I look forward to contributing further to NOGA’s success and thank the board for their continued confidence.”

Following the leadership announcements, the NOGA has stated that it will move onto its ‘next phase’ and further develop its general activities, member base and tasks.

The organisation moves into 2022 as public and political pressure falls on the Dutch gambling industry, particularly regarding advertising, with clampdowns on sports-focused marketing in the political pipeline over the next two years.

The country’s gambling authority, the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA), has been active in reminding operators of marketing requirements of late, such as on cash back bonuses and loyalty programmes, and urged firms to avoid excessive advertising during the World Cup.

Commenting on the two reappointments, Remko de Boer, Chairman of NOGA’s Board of Directors, said: “It is with great joy that, on behalf of the entire board and all NOGA members, I can confirm the reappointment of these two officers of our association.

“In the past two years, NOGA has transformed and grown from a somewhat subdued foundation into a true industry representation and I am pleased to say that NOGA has managed to build excellent relationships with all its stakeholders and industry peers.

“The commitment of both Eric and Peter-Paul has been crucial to our success. We are delighted that we have been able to commit both of them to us for a longer period of time, ensuring success in the future. We wish them both every success and look forward to continuing our journey together.”
