Alex Botez, celebrated chess player and GGPoker’s newest brand ambassador, today announced a Spin & Gold ELO Challenge, which will see some of the most engaging chess content creators from across the globe compete on GGPoker’s digital felt during May for a $50,000 prize.

Testing if the skills that have taken them to the top of chess can drive the same success at the poker table, the ELO Challenge participants will play GGPoker’s innovative Spin & Gold poker games throughout the month.

Each player will be assigned an ELO rating, which ranks them by relative skill levels; this system will be very familiar to those playing chess competitively. The participant with the highest ELO rank on May 30 will claim GGPoker’s inaugural Spin & Gold ELO Challenge title and a winner’s prize of $50,000.

Confirmed content creators include:

  • Raffael Chess (Brazil)

  • Dina Belenk (USA)

  • Jan Gustafsson (Germany)

  • Eric Hansen (Chessbrahs – Canada)

  • Aman Hambleton (Chessbrahs – Canada)

  • Jose Pepitoperu (Mexico)

  • Nemo Zhou (Chinese-Canadian)

“One of the reasons I am so excited to join GGPoker is being able to share my newfound love of poker with my fellow chess players from across the globe,” said Alex Botez, GGPoker Brand Ambassador. “The traits and skills that make good chess players translate so well into poker that I am sure this will be an incredibly close and exciting competition. I suspect many chess names will move up the poker ranks over the next few years!”

GGPoker’s innovative Spin & Gold game is a fast-paced single-table poker variant for either three or six players. Buy-ins start from $0.25, and in each game, the prizes on offer depend on a random multiplier; in a $1 game with three participants, the prize pool can reach a maximum of $100,000!

New GGPoker players can claim the poker room’s Welcome Bonus, earn even more rewards with the Honeymoon for Newcomers promotion and automatically join GGPoker’s Fish Buffet loyalty program, with regular cash prizes on offer.
