The ‘Queen of Pop,’ Madonna, is the latest celebrity to have entered the metaverse after she announced the purchase of a Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT.
The singer-songwriter acquired Bored Ape #4988 for 180 ether, or roughly $564,000 at the time of purchase.
The material girl revealed the purchase herself on her Twitter and Instagram pages, telling her followers:
“I finally entered the Metaverse… My very own Ape! What should I name her? Thanks @Moonpay. We all need protection from Evil Eye.”

According to on-chain data, besides Bored Ape #4988, Madonna currently holds 17 NFTs from eight different collections.
Three months ago, colleague and multiple Grammy Award winning rap musician, Eminem joined the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) after his purchase of the ‘Eminape’ NFT.
