US Fed Survey Shows 12% of Adults Held Crypto in 2021

According to a Federal Reserve study released on Monday, twelve percent of US adults held cryptocurrency in 2021.

The Fed’s annual survey measuring the economic health of U.S consumers, this year included questions on cryptocurrencies for a first-time.

A clear sign of the US central bank’s interest in the booming crypto economy, the report also shows that American consumers do not yet have an appetite for crypto as a currency. The data collected indicated that most are investing and not transacting. Of the respondents, 11% had held crypto as an investment while just 3% confirmed they has either paid or sent crypto.

The report also shows that most users are considered “disproportionately high-income,” with 46% of the pure-play investors making $100,000 or more.

Recently the Fed expressed its concerns on stablecoins putting forward more viable options.
