Gala Games’ Grit Becomes First Web3 Game Added on Epic Store
According to a statement Monday, the Epic Games Store has made a first Web 3 game available for players on the platform.
Gamers can now play Gala Games’s Grit – a Wild West battle royal, via the Epic, thereby giving it an instant audience of over 194 million users worldwide.
John Osvald, Gala’s president of games, said:
“Easy access to Web 3 games is a turning point for those players who have not yet seen how digital ownership can enrich the gaming experience.”
In 2021, the Gala Games partnered with crypto investment firm C2 Ventures and created a $100 million fund to invest in play-to-earn games, metaverse environments and other blockchain technology projects.
While its rival Steam last year effectively banning crypto and NFT-related games on the platform, Epic Games welcomed blockchain technology.
